IMAGINE

A place where childhood is celebrated

into the place that is the House of Tamariki
Our Humble Beginnings (Crayons Included)

Once upon a time (because – as any child will tell you – that’s the right way to start a good story) a group
of educators sat around a table littered with crayon stubs, doodle, and yesterday’s leftovers.
They scratched their heads, looked deep into their hearts, dreaming of a space that felt less like a
classroom and more like a child’s dream playground.
They envisioned a place where children didn’t just ‘fit in’. In fact, they wanted to create a place where
children wouldn’t have to fit in at all. But rather stand out, find their own little person, and perhaps
occasionally danced on the tables (with safety measures, of course).
The result was the House of Tamariki.

Rinila Rachel

Founder and Director

Rinila has over 15 years of experience in the early childhood space. After spending a few years as Centre Head, where she also formulated a music and theatre curriculum, her thirst for learning lead her to New Zealand. There, she worked and studied Early Childhood Education (Management & Philosophy) majoring in leadership, research, and the arts. Working in New Zealand’s top childcare centre, she explored, hands-on, a wide range of philosophies. She also helped set up and arts curriculum, and trained teachers in arts integration.

But her heart was in India all along, and she wanted to come back to this growing industry. She has developed curriculum and been in involved in setting up various centres across Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi, and Pune for international and domestic preschool chains. With teacher training certifications from India and the United Kingdom, she has also executed extensive training programs for both institutions. In fact, she has trained over 1000 teachers in Bangalore, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Indonesia, and Sri Lanka.

Having received multiple certifications in vocal and piano from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, as well as being a theatre artist, she is also a music educator and has a deep passion for bringing quality arts education to schools.

Decades of Experience – still children at heart

Our Teaching Maestros, with their 20 years of experience, might have a few grey hairs. But they’re young at
heart. They’ve seen it all – from finger paint masterpieces to the most imaginative “my pet dragon ate my
homework” excuses. With their insights, we’ve been nurturing the liveliest, most wonderful place where
learning feels like a chore and more like the best part of a Saturday morning.
And if that’s not enough, our teaching philosophies are deeply inspired by
-The Montessori method by Mariya Montesorri
-The Reggio Emilia Approach by Loris Malaguzzi
– National Education Policy by the Indian Government
-Te Whariki by the New Zealand Government
These aren’t names you just shake a stick at. Or mention casually.
